Signatures of Utah House of Representatives concerning House Bill 87 (anti-discrimination) being lifted from the Sifting Committee,, 1957
Scope and Contents
This single-box collection contains the papers of Representative Reid E. Wangsgaard while he served in the Utah House of Representatives from 1953 to 1962. The materials in this collection consist of correspondence and political papers, which document Wangsgaard's work while serving as a representative and demonstrate how the residents of Cache Valley looked to him for political representation. Of special interest in this collection are the twenty-five telegrams sent by Cache Valley residents on December 16 and 17, 1953, asking Wangsgaard to veto Governor Lee's education bill, a bill which threatened funding for schools in Cache Valley (Folders 1 and 2). Much of the remaining correspondence in this collection also concerns educational issues. Another item of special interest in this collection is a petition containing the signatures of numerous members of the House of Representatives concerning House Bill 87 (anti-discrimination) being lifted from the Sifting Committee (Folder 18).
Folders 1—17 contain Wangsgaard's incoming correspondence.
Folders 18—23 contain papers concerning Wangsgaard's political activities.
