Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

This collection contains the financial records of the Utah Mortgage and Loan Corporation for the years 1894 to 1925. The company started in 1892 by George Herbert Champ. This collection represents records from the first thirty years of its business life. Housed in the records are 30 ledgers and 2 boxes of materials. The ledgers contain daybooks, loan logs and payments received. This collection has links with a number of other collections found in the department. The F.P. Champ papers Mss Coll 50, the Champ family Papers Mss Coll 130, the West Cache Irrigation Company papers Mss Coll 97, the American Falls Canal and Poer Company papersMss Coll 109, the Farmers Cooperative Irrigation Company papersMss Coll 110, and the Davis and Weber Canal Company papersMss Coll 111. These were all companies which Utah Mortgage invested heavily in during the early part of the twentieth century.
