Biographical sketch of Elizabeth Gaskell Romney (wife of Miles Romney) written by a granddaughter, undated
Scope and Contents
This collection contains the biographies and memoirs of Mormon settlers in Colonia Juarez, Mexico. The papers are largely related to the Miles Park Romney family, which migrated to Juarez in 1886 and would be of interest to anyone interested in the settlement of Mormon pioneers in Mexico. The manuscripts are housed in one box, containing 15 folders of biographical sketches and memoirs that were assembled by Miles A. Romney’s grandchildren--mainly by Elizabeth Romney Madsen--who used them for her privately published book entitled, “Memories of Mexico.” Several of the documents include handwritten corrections that eventually became part of Madsen’s book.
