Three men, one seated, undated
Scope and Contents
The Utah State University Student Activity Photograph collection consists of 398 photographs, depicting a wide variety of student activities on the university campus and in the city of Logan, Utah. Most of the photographs were taken in and around the Student Union (later named the Taggart Student Center). Photographs include various student-sponsored dances (including student committees and advertisements), talent contests and other student musical and theatrical performances, homecoming activities, art exhibits, international student displays, winter carnival, and publicity photos of various professional acts who performed on campus. The publicity photographs represent a wide range of talent of the era, including recording artist and Broadway actor Josh White, Jr., folk singers Bob Gibson and Ruan Mackinnon, comedian and civil rights activist Dick Gregory, jazz pianist Vince Guaradi, and modern dance artist Barry Lynn.
Nearly all the people in the student photos are unidentified. The publicity photos for professional artists are all grouped together, representing the entire period. Care should be taken not to violate copyright with these images. There are a number of duplicates scattered throughout the collection.
