Alene Petty papers

 Collection
Identifier: UUS_Coll MSS 354

Scope and Contents

This collection contains letters of correspondence between Alene Petty and Kay Richardson. Richardson was in the Navy and wrote letters to Alene Petty in Idaho between 1944 and 1946. While the majority of the correspondence in the collection is between these two individuals, there are a few letters from other individuals addressed to Alene. A few miscellaneous items are also in the collection, including some unidentified black and white photographs.

Also included in the original donation were two POP gelatin prints of Salt Lake City, Utah. Neither are dated, but both are from the 19th century. One is of South Temple Street, showing the Beehive House and the Lion House with the old stone wall. The second is of "The Old White House" built by Brigham Young in Salt Lake City. Because of the lack of an identifiable connection to the rest of the collection, the prints have been moved to the C.R. Savage Photo Collection (P0038).
