J.A. Groebli papers
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of advertisements and correspondence relating to a variety of occult groups throughout the United States. There are also materials from book stores and instructional materials for a variety of martial arts programs. It is mainly composed of printed pamphlets and other informational publications. These materials may be of interest to scholars studying beliefs in early 20th century Utah, since these pamphlets show local interest in groups outside of the dominant Latter-day Saint religious tradition.

Biographical Note
Although not much is known about J.A. Groebli, he was a resident of Logan, Utah, in the early 20th century. He received advertisements from and presumably participated in a variety of spiritual, occult, religious, and martial arts groups. Notable groups with which he corresponded include The School of Initiates, The Philosophical Publishing Company, and a book publisher called de Laurence, Scott, and Co.
