The Kathryn Caine Wanlass Beat Broadside & Ephemera collection currently includes more than 400 items. Additions to the collection are made as acquisition opportunities and resources allow. The collection includes materials by significant figures of Beat era including Jeff Berner, Diane Di Prima, William Everson, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Allen Ginsberg, Michael McClure, David Meltzer, Gary Snyder, Anne Waldman, and many others.

Abstract

The Kathryn Caine Wanlass Beat Broadside and Ephemera collection was gifted to Utah State University Libraries in 1998 by the Marie Eccles Caine Foundation. The initial gift included approximately 200 Beat broadsides, as well as 3300 books, pamphlets, little magazines, and primary source materials that document the history and development of the Beat Movement in American literature and allied arts.

Arrangement

The broadsides are organized by size in archival drop-front print boxes, and further organized in numerical order within each box by local call number prefix BB (Beat Broadside).

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The Kathryn Caine Wanlass Beat Broadside and Ephemera collection was gifted to Utah State University Libraries in 1998 by the Marie Eccles Caine Foundation.
