Biographical / Historical
The Institute for Disability Research, Policy and Practice (IDRPP) is Utah’s federally designated University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) and currently operates out of Utah State University's Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services. The IDRPP is one of the largest United States UCEDD programs and is known for pioneering disability services in rural areas.
Established in 1972, the Institute for Disability Research, Policy and Practice (IDRPP) was constructed under Public Law 88-164 as a University Affiliated Facilities (UAFs). Throughout its operation, the IDRPP was previously known as the Exceptional Child Center (1972-1984), the Development Center for Handicapped Persons (1984-1991), and the Center for Persons with Disabilities (1991-2021).
