Edward B. Hanson papers
Scope and Contents
This collection consists mostly of correspondence, a few financial records, and a handwritten play excerpt. The bulk of the letters are from Edward's wife, Leah, and his mother, Mattie, to him while he served an LDS mission in Germany from 1906-1908. (Leah and Mattie were living in Logan during that time.) There are a few other letters to Leah and his mother from various people in 1914 and 1923. The correspondence are personal mission letters which talk about loved ones and everyday experiences. The letters are organized in folders by the name of the recipient and then are arranged chronologically by date.

Biographical Note
Edward Blair Hanson was born to Edward and Mattie (Martha) Blair Hanson on August 13, 1882 in Logan, Utah. He married Leah Nora Daniels on April 28, 1905 in the Logan Temple. He served an LDS mission in Germany from 1906-1908. Some of the cities he served in are Hamburg, Lübeck, and Hanover. Edward died on April 21, 1970. In an obituary notice for Leah in 1952, it is noted that she and Edward had six children, 18 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Their children were listed as Mrs. Leah H. Smith, Phillip B. Hanson, Edward B. Hanson Jr., Mrs. Mildred Sommers, Jack B. Hanson, and Seth M. Hanson. It is also noted that Leah and Edward's family lived in Logan in 1904-1914, 1929-1937, and 1947-1952. They also lived in Boise from1914-1923, Pocatello from 1923-1929, and in Salt Lake City from 1937-1947.
