Biographical Note
Wayne Estes was an All-American basketball player who played at Utah State University between 1963 and 1965. The night of February 8, 1965, he set a Utah State Fieldhouse record, scoring 48 points to bring his career total to 2,001. When Estes and his friends stopped to check out a car accident on campus after the game, the basketball star was fatally electrocuted by a downed powerline. Estes's talent would likely have landed him a spot in the NBA; the Los Angeles Lakers indicated they would take him in the first round of the 1965 draft.
