Biographical Note

Klaus Hansen received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Brigham Young University. He received his doctoral degree at Wayne State University in 1963. Hansen's doctoral dissertation, The Kingdom of God in Mormon Thought and Practice, 1830-1896 , was the precursor to his first book, Quest for Empire: The Political Kingdom of God and the Council of Fifty in Mormon History , published in 1966. Hansen was an assistant professor at Utah State University from 1965 to 1968.
