Biographical Note

George Alexander Grant (1891-) grew up in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. Grant worked in Yellowstone National Park as a seasonal ranger in 1922. In 1923 he worked at Penn State University as a photographer before becoming photographer for Yellowstone National Park in 1927. In 1931 he transferred to Washington D.C. to become photographer for the National Park Service. He took an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 images retiring in 1954.
