Biographical Note
Lyman S. Willardson became professor of Agricultural and Irrigation Engineering at Utah State University in 1974. Previously, he served with the USDA Agricultural Research Service in Utah, Ohio and California, beginning in 1957. His professional career commenced with the Bureau of Reclamation in 1950, following his graduation from USU. He earned his master=s degree from USU in 1955, and his PhD from Ohio State University in 1967.
Willardson's long career in international agricultural extension, included service with the Puerto Rico Agricultural Experiment Station from 1954 to 1957, and the Dominican Republic, where he was principal investigator for the federally funded Water Management Synthesis project, beginning in 1984. Willardson became professor emeritus in 1994, where he continued teaching and directing the research of graduate students until his death in 2005.
