Scope and Contents

The Utah State University Historic College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences records includes materials created by professors, administration, staff, and students. This collections includes reports, program files, events, newsletters and other assorted office files. This collection only includes materials created prior to 2025 belonging to the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences. The college is now known as S.J. and Jessie E. Quinney College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Future acquisitions will be collected under the new collection number UUS_14.12.

Biographical / Historical

1906-1956 The School of Agriculture initially was arranged into the departments of Agronomy, Irrigation and Drainage, Animal Industry and Dairying, Horticulture, and Veterinary Science. By 1956 the School of Agriculture had departments in Agricultural Economics and Marketing, Agronomy and Soils, Animal Husbandry, Bacteriology and Biochemistry, Botany and Plant Pathology, Dairy Husbandry, and Manufacturing Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Poultry Husbandry, Vegetable Crops, and Veterinary Science.

1957-2024 With this change, The School of Agriculture became the College of Agriculture and had the departments of General Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Education, Agronomy, Animal Husbandry Applied Statistics, Botany and Plant Pathology Dairy Industry, Horticulture, Poultry Husbandry, and Veterinary Science.

2013-2025 In 2013 the name of the College of Agriculture was changed to the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences. It held this name until early 2025 when it was closed and combined with S.J. and Jessie E. Quinney College of Natural Resource.

2025-Onward USU’s Strategic Reinvestment Most of the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences departments and programs were moved into S.J. and Jessie E. Quinney College of Agriculture and Natural Resources or the College of Verterinary Medicine.
