J.P. Smith Printing Company records
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of duplicate printing jobs completed for various private patrons, businesses, local government, community, religious, and university organizations. The collection also contains print-orders from local citizens, businesses, schools, and restaurants. Among the items printed were newsletters, ads, and programs.
Included are a large number of funeral programs for Hall Mortuary, organized alphabetically by the last name of the deceased, and records for the Logan chapter of the Rotary Club, organized chronologically.
The “Family History” section focuses on personal prints made by Smith including Christmas cards, resumes, wedding invitations, and birth announcements, which are organized by the last name of the person(s) associated with the item. The “Pedigrees and Pictures” subsection of “Family History” contains family trees and photographs created by Smith’s patrons who gathered their family history. The pedigrees are organized alphabetically by last name of the oldest patriarch on each tree. Many family trees contain information spanning back to the mid-19th century.
