Biographical Note

A pioneer in early childhood education in Utah and the West, Emma Eccles Jones was a friend and colleague of Edith Bowen. It was Edith Bowen who encouraged Mrs. Jones to apply her knowledge of progressive education for kindergarten children, which she did by founding the first kindergarten in Logan at the Whittier School.
