Historical Note

The Cache County Library Study Commttee was formed in 1991 to recommend options aimed at improving the quality of library service in Cache County and increase the availability of library resources for all citizens of Cache County. It was largely an outgrowth of public outcry over a $25 fee the Logan Library began charging residents living outside of Logan for use of the city’s library in 1986. This group was preceded by a library ad hoc committee formed in 1987.

Ultimately, the Cache County bookmobile joined with the cities of Providence and River Heights to renovate the Providence City Post Office for a new Cache County Providence-River Heights Branch and Bookmobile Center, which opened in September 1996. Known as the Cache County Library as of 2014, it is available to anyone living in Cache Valley free of charge.
